A group of runners taking part in the Blue Line Relay held Saturday in coordination with the end of National Police Week to honor fallen officers makes its way past through the intersection of Daniel K. Inouye Highway and Komohana Street in Hilo. The event, coordinated by FBI Special Agent Ed Ignacio, was ran by Hawaii Police Department officers, Department of Public Safety sheriffs and community supporters from the junction of Mamalahoa and Daniel K. A Blue Line Relay was held Saturday in coordination with the end of National Police Week to honor fallen officers. The event, coordinated by FBI Special Agent Ed Ignacio, was ran by Hawaii Police Department officers, Department of Public Safety sheriffs and community supporters from the junction of Mamalahoa and Daniel K. Inouye Highway in South Kohala to the Hilo Police Station. Ignacio plans to make the relay an annual event and hopes to invite the community to participate.
